I sure hope that they at least gave you a Van as a rental or even an SUV. I'm glad that they provided you with a rental. It is a big inconvenience, but it happens. There are such things as defective parts and it just so happens that you ended up with a defective timing belt. I guess the point that I want to bring up is that experiences like these do happen. I ended up selling the car six months after. After getting it fixed, I no longer had a problem with the timing belt. Bad thing is, I had to purchase another belt because there is no return policy there for defective parts. Got the part on a Monday and my friend and I worked on it that same day to get it done faster. So I ended up without a car for a couple of days because the parts store where I ordered parts from wasn't open on weekends. Luckily, I was near the base and my friend from our Car Club managed to get a tow truck to our location and help me get my car back to our Car Club Hanger. I was so ticked off that nite because it was a new belt, which I had on the car for less than a month, and it's already gone bad. ![]() On the way there, it happens - timing belt again. I was able to drive it for about three weeks and after about this time my friends and I decided to go site-seeing in Yokohama. So I ended up buying a new one the following day and installed a new one the same day, which I worked on almost 'til midnight. My Toyota Carina back then had about 65,000 Kilometers on it and while driving on the Chuo Expressway the timing-belt snapped. It happened to me when I was still in Japan, but I didn't have a new vehicle like you have. I guess you just so happend to have gotten a faulty-made/defective timing belt. HAS ANY BODY HAD THIS PROBLEM I HOPE NOT THIS IS SO AGGREVATAING. BOTTOM LINE IS I WANT MY ODY FIXED ASAP OR SOMETHING LIKE TO DRIVE TO THE MOUNTIANS. I WOULD EVEN TAKE A HONDA PILOT IF THEY CAN'T GET ME A ODY, AND HAVE THEM TAKE MY SKI RACKS AND SPACE BOOSTER OFF OF MINE AND PUT IT ON THERE'S. I WANT ONE LIKE IF HAVE TO USE, OH WE CAN'T GET YOU ONE, OH YES THEY CAN IF THEY WANTED TO SELL ME ONE THEY WOULD CALL ALL OVER THE AREA AND GET, THEY DID FOR MY SISTER IN-LAW, SHE WANTED A BLACK V6 HONDA ACCORD AND THEY FOUND HER ONE. NOT SURE IF THEY HAVE ONE IS GOING TO CALL TODAY AT 11:00 OUR TIME AND 8:00 THERE TIME AND IF THEY CAN'T GET I STILL NEED A VECHILE. BUT I NEED VECHILE FOR MY TRIP SKING SO THE MANAGER IS TRYING TO GET A PART FROM CALI. THEY GAVE ME A RENTAL NOT LIKE WHAT I HAVE OF COURSE AND ARE PAYING FOR IT. SO THEY RUSH ORDERED THE PART AGAIN AND I GET A CALL LATER YESTERDAY AND THEY TELL ME ITS ON BACK ODER, YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT? NO DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE AVAIABLE. HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN TO A NEW CAR I ASK? THEY RUSH ODERED THE PART AND IT CAME IN SAT. ![]() IT WAS WORSE THAN THAT IT IS THE TIMING BELT EXTENSIONER AND HONDA TOLD THEM TO NOT LET ME DRIVE IT THE TIMING BELT COULD COME OFF AND RUIN THE ENGINE. BUT ABOUT WEEK OR SO EARLIER I WAS HEARING A CLICKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE WHEN IDLEING THAT WAS BOTHERING ME SO I HAD SERVICE TECH LISTEN TO IT, HE SAID RIGHT AWAY THAT IS NOT NORMAL SOUNDS LIKE A BELT EXTENSIONER SO THEY TOOK A LOOK AT IT AND CALLED ME. WE BOUGHT OUR ODY IN AUGUST, IT ONLY HAS 6,800 MILES ON IT I TOOK IT FOR AN OIL CHANGE BEFORE WE WOULD GO ON OUR TRIP. ![]()
